Default 89 Club Car BB Engine swap & more

20170628_140508.jpg
Ordered the Big Block Engine Kit from VC today. Thought I would do some research before it shows up in a couple weeks. I ordered complete kit with clutches and longer throttle cable. Is there anything else I might need to get or do to be ready. I am strongly thinking of getting Jakes long travel suspension and disc brakes. I have the Jakes 6" lift on my Yamaha and it looks great but rides rough for this old man.
Any and all advice and recommendations is appreciated.

You'd probably get more input if you posted this in the "Big Block Talk" section.

Most of the posts here in the "Gas Club Car" section are primarily fixes for stock motors, and I would say most guys posting in here don't have much experience with these kinds of swaps.

Long Travel and disc brakes are a MUST if You're going to do any REAL off-roading and don't want to shake yourself to pieces, LOL. Don't forget that if You go LT you will want to order a set of 2" spacers for the rear wheels to get the wheelbase even, a set of flares will go a LONG way in keeping You dry and dirt-free with the wider wheelbase, too. Personally, I'd order a Mikuni fuel pump for $20, the factory pumps work but often are worn enough to cause starvation issues. We won't build a Big Block without seatbelts too, but that's Your perrogative, I'd be willing to bet that once You get it going You'll make that investment anyhow.

Lastly, on the VC builds that we have done we have installed Honda GX390 choke plate assemblies - even though the VC's are tuned to start easily, that tuning is in Las Vegas heat and conditions and doesn't always pan out in spring or fall weather if You live where there are actual "seasons" - it's about $25 for the choke plate assembly that installs between the carb and air cleaner (less than 3min if You do it before dropping the engine in) and another $12 or so for the appropriate cable, You'll be glad You did that mod if You don't want to be chasing carb adjustments seasonally or under different conditions.

The VC BB doesnt come with new fuel pump? Spacers I have from other cart builds and being in Cali probably wont need choke. Never have to use it on my Yamaha. Here we have 2 seasons, 8 months hot summer and 4 months warm winter lol. I will be starting the Club Car in the next few days and will understand more as I start taking it apart. Thanks for the input.

Checkout my new paperweight lol. Not sure what to do with it. Rebuild it? Junk it? Part it out?

Ready for the VC BB. I can't believe the frame on this cart is all aluminum.

The KF82's are really "sought after"! What's wrong with it?
(I went through your previous posts, and I didn't see that you mentioned it anywhere.)

It is seized-up. Not sure why yet I haven't opened it up. I examined the outside and no visible damage.

I personally don't know much about them except that a number of people are looking for them without a hole (or dent) in the rear of the block.

Springbok knows more about them!
