Gas Club Car year 2000
Club Car year 2000 with Kawasaki 350 gas engine, will not take gas in gear.
Engine runs but surges no matter how far throttle is pushed down in forward or reverse. |

Re: Gas Club Car year 2000
Need clarification: You're saying it runs, but you can't really control the RPM's? Does the surging g the high RPM's, shut down, then accelerate t high RPM's again? Or is it a more gentle up & down? Does the range (high/low) of the surge change at all with how far the pedal is pressed?

Re: Gas Club Car year 2000
meimk, Thanks for replying back.
Cannot control rpm's. It throttles with a gentle up and down mode. Same surge whether peddle is pushed half way down or fully depressed to the floor. The range (high/low) stays the same with pedal pressed down at any location. RPM's go up then down. It's like pushing the pedal down and then immediately letting off if it were running properly. I changed fuel pump, new fuel lines, new fuel filters, removed and cleaned gas tank, installed new carb....same issue. |

Re: Gas Club Car year 2000
A few things to check: Is the carburetor throttle plate pulling shut all the way when you let off the pedal? Linkage, cables and return spring could keep the carb from shutting down all the way. I know those arbs come with an idle set screw, but for a "pedal start" cart it should be backed out pretty much all the way so the butterfly can close completely. Related to that, check the RPM limiter. The brown wire that ends under one of the mounting strap bolts for the RPM limiter box is the ground it uses to shut down the spark when the engine runs beyond a preset speed. Disconnect that ground and see if it stops the die down part of your surge.
