no acceleration

Hi all!! My 2005 Gas Precedent club cart is having an issue all of a sudden!!
It has the FE290 engine.

Press on the gas pedal and she only wants to idle. But every now and then it's take off like normal, run about 100 yards perfectly, then decelerate back to idle.

I pulled the carb off and cleaned it although it looked super clean.
I changed the fuel filter & spark plug.
I tested the fuel pump and it's pumping.

Any ideas on what else I should be looking for?

Are you sure the engine is actually running, and that is not just the starter / generator is turn over?

Does the cart move, at this idle?

When you tested the fuel pump, did you remove hose at carb and see fuel bumbling out?

I was able to drive the cart to load it on my truck. When I first went to get it, it fired up like normal and got up to normal speed for about 30 seconds and then started to sputter like as if it was being chocked out. Couldn't smell gas like it was flooding.
When I tested the fuel pump, I removed the fuel hose at the carb, pressed the gas pedal and gas was bubbling out of the fuel line.

Could be the needle sticking in the carb after you get it to run the 100 yards and dies pull the plug and see if it's wet or dry if it's wet you have ignition problem if it's dry it's a fuel issue

Ok, I'll pull the plug and have a look. I pulled the carb apart and cleaned it last night, but there wasn't any kinda of grit or anything in it. Seemed like it was clean and operating properly.

So I decided to hold the chock in and press the gas pedal at the same time and hold the chock. It runs at normal top speed while holding the chock in. As soon as I release the chock, it basically slows right down to idle speed.

I called the Club cart dealer and talked to the mechanic. He told me that it could be an air lock in the engine oil because of the intermittent action and the fact that it would rev while chocked. He figured the vacuum system for the fuel pump was being affected as he has seen this before. He told me to pull the dipstick and make sure it wasn't over full of oil. My level was maybe a hair high. So I put the dipstick in and out about 5 times wiping it clean each time trying to reduce the oil amount. Fired the cart up and it ran like new. I took it back to the course tonight and will try it out on the course tomorrow morning. I'll report back.

Humm.... That was above my pay grade... Never heard of such thing..

My next suggestion was clean that little "breather port on the fuel pump, or what ever it is" I had mine clog up once, my cart would turn over and over, then give me 30secs of spurting, I pulled the fuel line over and splashed gas all over it, been working like a charm ever since
