Default Carry Re-Wiring Issue

I own a 1996 Carryall. The wiring was getting to a point of sad condition so I made the decision to completely rewire the entire cart.

I completed the task and almost everything is right but.....

I turn the ignition on and step on the pedal and the cart starts like normal. However, when I ease off the pedal the engine continues to run at idle. The engine will not stop unless I turn the ingition switch to off. Before the engine stopped when the pedal was no longer depressed.

What did I connect wrong? I am assuming I have a mixed wire on the limit switches. I did use the wiring diagram and bought colored wire to match what was removed.

Puzzled as to what is wrong and why the engine does not shut off once the pedal is not depressed.

I understand your predicament, but don't have the answer. I'd love my Carryall to do that. I stop, get off, get on and go 5 or 6 times in a trip around the marina. Our Gator sits and idles but not the CA2!

Welcome to BGW BD!

Check the black wire on the bottom microswitch in the electrical components box for continuity to ground, also check that same micro for proper operation.
that's the one that shuts your engine down with the pedal up.

@Aqua... disconnect that black wire, tuck it in the box, install the cover, and adjust the idle.

Thanks for your help. I still had a residual issue and have a more skilled mechanic tracing it down, I think I used the wrong micro switch.

So the cart has been reworked and accuracy double checked. Still having problem with cart not dying when pedal is released. Cart was also running bad. Suspected the limit switches I bought from Amazon were not right. Picked up OEM switches from a dealer and cart runs better but still does not stop running when pedal is released.

Any tips on what to check?

My Carryall starts with the key. Stays on until I turn it off. I like it that way.

I think the OP has a simple wire not hooked correctly.
