I've got a cool Club Car that isn't working correctly
I'm really bummed about my new Club Car. It is a 2013 Precedent with a Kawasaki engine.
I've had it about 3 months and bought it from a custom dealer who had it on consignment. It has been fun to run and go and do things. Until recently... I was headed to the auto parts store to get something for my truck and it died at the light. I shouldn't say it died, I let it idle down and it turned off and never came back on. First I thought it was the battery. Had it checked and it was 4 years old and dead. Replaced it with a brand new battery. It fired right up in neutral. However, when I tried to shift to forward or reverse, it dies. I have checked the solenoid and I think it works. The solenoid doesn't click when I put it in forward and press the gas. It ohms out correctly with what I've researched. I'm not 100% sure though. So I think it is the micro switch or the actual f/r switch. All that said, I'm looking for suggestions to get my "wife's" toy working again and what to trouble shoot. This looks like the forum to find the answers. |

Sounds like the tow/run switch is in the wrong position

Whoops! lol If you feel the solenoid is good then check the obvious such as you suggest ie, the pedal switch, ign switch etc i dont know these casrts wiring but can look it up for you if you get stuck. You could try supplying power to the small terminals of the solenoid directly from the battery with the wheels off the ground. If it crank, then the solenoid is good and not getting power. |

Re: I've got a cool Club Car that isn't working correctly
Welcome to BGW JStewart!
It sounds to me like it's in maintenance mode if it runs in neutral and not in forward or reverse! Note: some newer Club Car gassers have a run/service toggle switch, rather than the cam on the back of the shifter. (so Danny really isn't that far off!) J... Lift the seat, and on the back of the shifter you'll see the maintenance cam, (a yellow knob with 3 legs), gently pull the cam away from under the microswitches, (it's spring loaded) while holding it out, turn the cam about 1/2 of a turn, (it doesn't matter which way you turn it) and when you find the "notch", gently slide it back in under the microswitches. If it doesn't run in forward, neutral, or reverse after that, then yes, you could have a bad F/N/R microswitch, or GCOR, (it's rare that GCOR's go bad... but anything is possible!) If it does run in forward and reverse (but not neutral)... your good to go! |

Re: I've got a cool Club Car that isn't working correctly
I've checked the yellow knob under the microswitch to make sure it was locked and it is. So I guess it isn't that.
It runs in neutral really well. If I could only get in in forward or reverse. How do I check to see if it is the microswitch? |

You don't understand... What I'd like you to do is rotate the yellow cam!
slide it out... rotate it a 1/2 turn... slide it back in... and see if it runs in forward or reverse. Note: don't let it "snap back in" like the video shows, it may bend the switch activating arms. |

Don, you were right. I pulled it back out and rotated just 1/2 turn. Cart went back to working just fine. Just drove it around the block without any problems.
Thanks for that information. I must have moved it when I installed the new battery and never realized what I did. A new bit of education. Thanks again. |
