Opinion on Used Gas Club Car
Been reading on here for a while, and been looking around at golf carts to pick one up for general use, mainly few times a year for volunteer meets to shuttle people around. I am in the local Antique Car Club here and we hold a few meets a year, and i usually borrow one from someone else to do this, but I am about done with my Antique Restoration so time to get one and not have to borrow one anymore. plus i can mod it tweak it and enjoy it how i want.
Looking around found one locally that is a 2008 Club Car DS with a Kawasaki Engine. Assume it is the Fe290. Looks to be in good shape, looks like it is stored outside. engine bay is dirty and the cart is covered in leaves. looks like no cracks in body or roof, no rips or tears in seat that i can see. guy just did a tune up on it, new filters, plugs, oil, oil filter etc. standard white color. He is asking $2000 for it. Below are some pictures he sent me, let me know what you think. Looks like it has been taken care of, and since it is a Club Car assume it has the Aluminum Frame so no rusting there. |

Re: Opinion on Used Gas Club Car
Also found a 2009 Yamaha 48V Golf Cart that has a Lift Kit and aftermarket Tires on it. it looks a little rough but nothing is wrong with it, they bought a NEW one and selling this one off. NO BATTERIES are included, so that adds another $600-800 to the expense to get it running. He is Asking $900
It is stored outside and shows it. Looking a the pictures, trying to figure out WHAT is in the center of the floor ? is that connected to the pedal or what is it supposed to be ?? between these two, which way should i lean ?? |

Re: Opinion on Used Gas Club Car
In my area club car is priced right for a good condition running cart but not sure it's an 08 someone will chime if if im wrong I'm more of a Yamaha guy that being said I know the Yamaha isn't a 09 wrong body I'm pretty bias when it comes to gas carts so I'd get some more info on the club car it looks dirty but generally they clean up nice

Re: Opinion on Used Gas Club Car
I'm far from an expert, but axles on earlier model Yamaha Drive golf carts had serious issues. From what I recall, if the axle has a white tag on it, it is something I would steer clear of. I think the yellow tag on the axle is what you want. Might want to check that, because a replacement axle is over 1k. Others with more knowledge will chime in on this. I think late '09 they started w/the yellow tagged axles. There are threads on this w/pictures, so you might want to search more. The custom graphics are pretty sweet though, might swing things if she is included in the deal, lol.

I suggest gas , I would drive it first and see how she drives. With electric the age , condition and care of the batteries is VERY important. The last thing you want to do is buy it to only find out you need a $1000 or more in new batteries.

Re: Opinion on Used Gas Club Car
Yeah already know that the Yamaha 48V will need batteries, there are NONE in it, which means i can NOT test drive it ??
That pedal configuration bothers me, never seen one like that, which tells me it was mod altered maybe a owner fix to get it working again ?!? looks like the whole assembly is above the floorboard !! and not the factory pedal anyways ?!? also asked the owner to get me the serial/ model number off the cart, see if they do that or not, then can validate year (I HOPE) |
