Snubber Bracket relocation
Looking for ideas on lowering the snubber bracket to level the motor on my 96 club car after installing lift this week. Looking for ideas and pic of how others have done it? This is a picture of my current stock position. I need to lower it about 2" to get things level again. Thanks!

Re: Snubber Bracket relocation
Yours is set up different than mine but I think this idea might help you. You should be able to drill 2 holes in your current snubber holder and add bushings and a new piece of flat stock to hold snubber.

Re: Snubber Bracket relocation
The front of the engine cradle may not drop 2"! (depending on the size of the lift)
With yours, you'll either need to add a bracket below the frame rail it sits on now, or... grind off the existing bracket, and reweld a new bracket on. (that's what my friend did on his 94) But... BEWARE! you may have a problem with your intake tube hitting the Electrical Components Box! (depending on if you have the new style air box next to the battery, or the old style that sits on top of it!) Intake hose.jpg There's a fix for it, but the part in the link below is no longer available... there are available intake manifolds that will work though! (with minor modifications) http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...car-gas-2.html Hope this helps! |

Re: Snubber Bracket relocation
Why does it have to be exactly level? For the oil pan?

Re: Snubber Bracket relocation
For the oil pickup from what I understand, but it also puts the rears springs in a bind from what I can tell unless its lowered somewhat. I'm still learning also.

Re: Snubber Bracket relocation
The oil pick up is pretty much center of the bottom of the engine...
Really, the only time you need to level out the engine pan is for lifts in excess of 6 inches, AND modified higher then the spec'd RPM's. Most only level the engine pan out with higher than normal lifts. (like me) OR... to keep the oil light from coming on (with a lift) when the engine is revving higher than it's designed for. When it come to the stress on the leaf springs... a 6" lift isn't the stress you might think it is, But, at the same time... the engine pan may not "float" with the suspension like it was designed to do. .02 |

Re: Snubber Bracket relocation
Thanks for the explanation Lockman1, Mine is a 4" jakes A Arm lift with new 22" tires. I think before I goto the trouble of fabbing up a new snubber bracket and such. I'll see how it rides once I get everything put back togather. If mine was an easy bolt on type rather the the welded bracket I would be more prone to tackle it.

Re: Snubber Bracket relocation
With a 4" lift? you shouldn't have to worry much about it!
