Default Cleaning up the 08 DS

As you know i recently picked up a 2008 Club Car DS and we had a beautiful day today, 75 and sunny !! yeah I know it will be in the 40's tomorrow, so decided to change out the broken governor cable and clean up the cart some and do some investigation.

to replace the cable have to remove the rear access cover, and to do that have to remove the aluminum bed first. removing the bed realized that this truly was a service cart all its life. general repairs made as needed, same with service. mismatched hardware holding things together, etc...

Bed Removed and Ready for Service

Did some general DIRT removal and cleaning:
Rear w/ Panels Removed
Rear all Cleaned Up

Engine Area Before
Engine Area Gentle Cleaning
...did a quick cleaning to remove most of the dirt, there was a LOT of it packed on everything. you can now see the fuel tank and several other parts/ components. still a LOT more cleaning up to do !!

Carburetor Hose
I see three hoses in the photo, do you mean the yellow one? On my older carts with the flathead motor, yes there is a vent hose coming off the top of the carb that openly vents to the ground (pretty much just hangs there). I imagine your cart will have a similar hose.

Yep! it's a bowl vent/overflow.

It's intentionally clipped to the frame at a low point so in the event the float sticks, fuel will dump on the ground rather than all around the engine bay!

Thanks

Looks to be missing a few bolts as well. will have to look them up and replace them.

Once i am Done with the car i want to tear the cart down and really clean it up. probably lighten it at least 5 pounds once i remove all the dirt and grime !!

Some carts have had a harder life than others. Got one in the shop now that has been under water a couple of times. A few months back it came in with the engine rusted solid. Full of dirty, muddy, rusty water. Had a high water mark that ran just under the seat. Ended up replacing that engine with a stock type (FE290) reman and cleaning/flushing everything else. Came back a few days ago as a "will not run". Oil is water contaminated, but what kept it from running was the air box under the floor packed solid in mud (again).
Trying to convince the owners it's not a submarine.
