Removing key switch from 1993 DS dash
Hello,
I’m trying to surprise my sister with new dash for her 1993 club car DS but I’ve run into a problem with removing the key switch from the old one. I read that you use a flat head screw driver to pop the case off the front and either I’m prying at the wrong thing or that doesn’t apply to this version. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Removing key switch from 1993 DS dash
I found this on the manual:
6. Remove key switch from the dash:On vehicles manufactured prior to December 19, 1994 (serial numbers lower than 9522-436452):Hold the key switch and use the switch tool (Club Car Part No. 1012801) to turn the switch retaining nut on the outside of the dash panel. I have no idea what that tool looks like or could even find a picture. |

Re: Removing key switch from 1993 DS dash
Suggest you go one step further and make a trip to the auto parts house. Pick up an inexpensive generic car ignition switch with a unique key for better security and throw the old switch out with the dash panel

Re: Removing key switch from 1993 DS dash
When I was searching the forum last night I thought I came across a lot of posts saying that those switches don’t work, because of a car switch having different stages meaning different things where as a golf cart is pretty much just on/off but with 4 connecting spots? Would love it if I did.

Re: Removing key switch from 1993 DS dash
Anybody that would say such a thing simply does not understand basic switching. A generic automotive switch will have a simple on/off switch & a spring loaded momentary switch function for the starter contact. It may also have on plus accessory or accessory only position. Careful all of this does not muddy the waters for you. Select the simplest switch.
Obviously you will only be using the 2 terminals associated with the on/off feature. Good luck |

Re: Removing key switch from 1993 DS dash
The Club Car ignition switch has two separate contacts. When switched off there is a closed contact that grounds the ignition system killing the engine. When switched on the other contact closes putting 12 volts to the solenoid in the black box under the seat.

Re: Removing key switch from 1993 DS dash
I stand corrected. I clearly did not see I was in the gas section. My apologies.
