Re: Stuck in forward gear
If it were mine I would take the shift cable loose from from the lever on the transmission and see if that lever would shift it thru neutral and reverse and back. Your cable may be froze up or your transmission is stuck.

Re: Stuck in forward gear
Yep, need to open it up. Bound to be along the input shaft: the sliding carrier, broken forks or something along those lines. If you do a YouTube search there are some decent “how to” videos to walk you through it.

Re: Stuck in forward gear
Was it ever making any noise?
Bearings on the input shaft will go bad and let the shaft move side to side, keeps it from engaging reverse because it pushes the shaft rather than engage the synchro hub. These things will make noise for a long time before they get that bad, but will fill your fluid with glitter. Either that or the selector rod or fork broke for some reason. |

Re: Stuck in forward gear
The synchronizer is locked up. Try this, and yes I'm serious. Go out and drive it as fast as it'll go. Slam on brakes and lock the tires up and slam it into reverse at the same time. It's going to grind like crazy, but it'll probably work. It works about 90% of the time. Had to do this for a customer a couple months ago. He just left in amazement.
