Default Old Club car gas Carryall FUEL PUMP noise

I just got this cart and it works but this old school fuel pump makes clicking noises. Also the top of the gas tank has a part on it that looks like it used to have a wire going to it. What's that? Can i fix this pump or buy something new? Recommendations?

Thanks
Elbow

Cart would have had a vacuum powered pump originally. Silent and pretty reliable. The plate on the fuel tank would have been where a fuel gauge sender would have been mounted.

Thanks for the reply. So this one apparently isn't so quiet. Loud ticking when i turn the key on. Can I get one like it so it switches out easy or should I buy a different kind of pump?

I guess what I have is an electric Facet fuel pump. They are known for being clicky and noisy and one recommendation was to isolate it from the frame with a rubber spacer to lessen the rattle.

That’s an oldie for sure! Dunno what type of fuel pump should have been used on the KF engines but any small 2-3psi pump should work. I think I’d rather have a mechanical pump than electric.
If the KF motor has a crankcase pulse port, you can use a pulse pump like that other carryall in your pic probably uses.

That's kind of what I was getting at. The electric pumps will ALL be a bit noisy. That KF82 would have been a vacuum powered pump originally. Like this, though this particular vendor seems to be out of stock right now, but you get the idea.

How did you get it to stick to the ceiling upside down like that? None of my carts will do that... yours must have spidey senses or something :)

And agreed with FairTax... I much prefer a vacuum pulse fuel pump over an electric one. They're silent and reliable. You don't need "pressure" to run it, just the pulse to push some gas into the carb and keep the float bowl full. Electric would be more likely to over-pressurize and cause issues with too much fuel overflowing the bowl and flooding the engine and/or airbox if the needle doesn't seat perfectly.

You have what used to be called a solid state fuel pump. I bought one for a VW some years back. The noise like to drive me batty. I tried mounting the pump on a thick rubber mount and that helped some but still not enough I finally put rubber shield over the pump but still allowing air to circulate under the pump. That helped a lot since it not directly mounted on the frame and noise insulated. I could still hear it if I listened for it but unnoticeable on the road.

1984-85 gas Club Car DS carts came from the factory with an electric fuel pump. Pretty sure they didn't introduce the vacuum fuel pump until 1986.
