91 club car too slow
Bought my 1991 club car last year and it always has started good.It would run good for about 10 min. then run out of gas. I installed a new fuel pump,2 new gas filters ,air filter and spark plug. I removed the carb.,soaked it [lots of varnish and gunk in fuel bowl] blew all orfices out,set idle and high speed jet while in maint. mode.It never acted as it did before, never stopped as if it was out of gas. Last fall I put in Stable and used it 6 more times before storing it for the winter. Today it started up just fine but it will only go 7 mph, same as last year. I don't want a speed demon, just another 6-7 mph. I don't want to bypass the rev. limiter, just need to rev a little more. Throttle position as far as speed goes, makes no differance if I'm at half throttle or on the floor, speed and rpms never change, hints please! Thanks.

Re: 91 club car too slow
That sounds like another round of the carburetor gunk problem ......

Re: 91 club car too slow
last fall I rebuilt the carb.,installed 2 fuel filters, installed new fuel pump, cleaned out the fuel tank and put premium unleaded in the tank before I started it. It wasn't speedy when I bought it,7 mph. I just want to know what folks that have run into the same problem have done. I read the sticky on speeding it up and I can adjust the throttle rod and shorten up the gov. spring, just wanted ideas.

Re: 91 club car too slow
just plain stock it should be making 12-14mph......Does it have an hour meter on it? Some guys had trouble with the throttle plate vibrating it swivel mount to death and some actually went down the intake ...I don't think that is yours. But, it could be not responding to the linkage properly.

Re: 91 club car too slow
No hour meter. Throttle plate felt fine when I had the carb off. As my post mentions, I completely went through the carb because it would run then stop as if it was out of fuel. Now it starts right off but will not get up to speed. Quarter throttle is no different than wide open.

Re: 91 club car too slow
It's a longshot but, you might disconnect the muffler and see if it got clogged? There are only so many things working here? When you open the throttle you need increase volume of air, increase quantity of fuel. If you are sure you are getting both of these in increased amounts then look for a restriction.....If nothing else pull the stupid carb back off and look for a speck of dirt or a reclogged port???

Re: 91 club car too slow
Pulled govenor rod cover today there is no spring to adjust. There is a long 1/8 rod that connects to a lever on the rear housing then connects to a long lever that is connected by a short rod to the carb linkage. When I go to maint. mode,it will rev up more if I manually hold the long rod stationary and manually open the carb. linkage, in other words, don't let the gov. work. I am going to cut the long rod and install a splice to lengthen the gov rod.
