Differenc: Club Car EX40 ignition coil vs. Other Subaru/Robin EX40 coils?
So I need a new ignition coil for my 2017 Club Car Gas with the Subaru EX40 efi motor. The oem replacement coil is $255!?!?!?!?!? Where as there are other Subaru EX40 applications and the coil is only $60-80 on average? Whats the difference? Is there actual real difference or Club Car just bumping their price on original parts?
Any known substitutes that work that don't cost $255... Thanks |

Re: Differenc: Club Car EX40 ignition coil vs. Other Subaru/Robin EX40 coils?
It's a 2017 and it already needs an ignition coil? Am I missing something here or does this just not seem right?
I would have to imagine the cart is still under warranty... I believe it's 3 years on most of the models and parts? I'd let the dealer fix it for free. |

Re: Differenc: Club Car EX40 ignition coil vs. Other Subaru/Robin EX40 coils?
It has exchanged hands a few times. The cart was driven on the beach and the coil has a lot of corrsion built up on it. I am trouble shooting an issue with the cart not wanting to run smoothly at low speed/idle/initial start up . Pulled the coil off and metered it. Its not giveing correct readings. So im staring there having already checked punmp, removed/checked/clesned carb, removed injector and cleaned it.

Re: Differenc: Club Car EX40 ignition coil vs. Other Subaru/Robin EX40 coils?
Did some googling and came up with the following OEM part numbers. You might be able to search for these and see if they match up with any of the cheaper versions you are finding.
Club Car #105017401 Robin/Subaru #20B-71203-11, Replacing Club Car #105017401 Robin/Subaru #20B-79430-H1. Interested to find out if purchase one of the cheaper versions and it works! |

Re: Differenc: Club Car EX40 ignition coil vs. Other Subaru/Robin EX40 coils?
Exactly what I found with regard to part numbers. It gets confusing because 105017401 is listed as a replacement for both. However, I haven't found any source that indicates 20B-79430-H1 can be used in place of 105017401. I was hoping someone here might shed some light on this.
Edit: I found a source that lists 105017401 as a Club Cart P/N and 20B-79430-H1 as a Subaru P/N for the same part...hmmm. Still trying to actually get to the coil so I can verify that it's my problem. |
