No fire
2015 Club Car pulls in shop for oil change. Went to crank it and now it will not start. No fire to plug. I have a manual but was wondering if anyone has had this to happen. Cart had never give any sign of not starting before it was drove in shop. Not my shop thank goodness.

Re: No fire
Its a carryall work cart. EFI.
I was told the oil light was flashing once in a while and he didn't know about the computer. I assume this cart is like cars in the 80's where you can count the flashes to see what the code is. It was probably setting a code and thought it was low on oil and changed it and no fire since. He also removed the battery cable and I guess it cleared the codes. I was there last week but didn't have time to help him. |

Re: No fire
I believe there is a code sequence but I don’t know what it is.
Last one I heard of on the board here that had no spark went to a dealer in FL and they replaced lots of stuff under warranty and still couldn’t get it to run. It was a thread from back around the first of the year and they were dragging their heels fixing it. Last I heard it was still at the dealer waiting for them. I never saw if there was a successful repair. The coil kill circuit is linked to the computer on those so it can use coil pulses to determine when to inject fuel. It’s a fairly simple setup as far as injection system go, but apparently when it fails it’s a $$$$ PITA to fix it. I would make sure it’s a spark issue, unplug the coil kill wire and see if the coil then produces a good spark. It’s probably coincidence unless they were in there throwing wrenches around. |

Re: No fire
It is not firing at coil. I checked it my spark tester. I did hear fuel pump run when the switch was turned on. I think I read somewhere that there is a part that was before the two micro switches that when you hit the pedal sent the right signal to those switches but I am not sure.

Re: No fire
If you unhook the wiring plugs to the EFI computer, make absolute sure to hook them up to the side they came out of. For some stupid reason you can switch the plugs and fry the EFI. You would think they would have one plug different than the other, but sadly not.

Re: No fire
I was at the place that owns the golf cart yesterday. Cart is still sitting because they have not figured out the issue.
I had a spark tester in my pocket so I told the mechanic let's check this cart once again. I noticed that when spinning over the engine I get no fire. When I let off gas pedal right at the last second before it stops spinning the spark tester fires a nice and blue spark. Almost like a bad ignitor does on an EZGO . The EZGO's seen to spark once when you first hit gas pedal if they are bad though. I didn't have time to do any more tests but was just wondering if anyone had ever had this issue on these EFI carts ? I get no flashing light when I turn on the key but he removed the battery cable when he was trying to repair it so I assume he cleared all the codes. Almost like the gas pedal is shorting when spinning over the engine. I wonder if I could connect a battery cable wire to starter and with key on make the starter turn without pushing the pedal ? and see if it might fire. I don't think it would hurt any part of the electronics if I tried this. That way it might tell me if something under pedal is shorted making it not fire. Just a thought ???? |
