2012 club car fuse blowing
2012 club car gasoline engine fuse blows instantly upon turning the key on. Was running fine up to this point. Replaced key switch, and micro switches they tested ok, I'm at my wits end

Re: 2012 club car fuse blowing
What model?
If the fuse blows after you turn the key on, there is a short to ground AFTER the switch. Get a small light bulb and socket from an auto parts store. Crimp some male spade terminals to the wire ends. Remove the fuse and stick the wires for the bulb into the fuse slots in the holder. When you turn the key on the light will come on, when you find your short the light will go off. Follow the wiring from the switch and make sure it is not pinched against the frame or damaged. We would have to know what kind of cart it is to offer any further specifics. |

Re: 2012 club car fuse blowing
IMHO, i feel you may have the GCOR with the diode in the wiring to the solenoid. They can be a real advantage to figure out. This might not be your problem, but it good to know all of the possible causes. Do a little searching as wiring diagram are out there
Follow FairTax4Me advice to start, as it may just be a pinched wire, this may take a while so have refreshments ready |

i Look it up MOBILCAB which has the full parts manual on line which includes a wiring diagram. A 2012 has a GCOR with the diode.

Re: 2012 club car fuse blowing
The more I dig, the more I get confused! Key off, battery connected, power to number 2 on the key switch. Disconnect battery, turn key switch on, and reconnect the battery, no power to the switch. All this just happened, there wasn't something that led to it. I'm good with engine and transmission repairs, however an electrical problem like this I'm in the weeds

Re: 2012 club car fuse blowing
The key switch post #2 is given power from the HOT side of the large post on the solenoid, there is a in-line fuse & several sonic weld (Junctions with other wires) that may be the cause of the problem

Re: 2012 club car fuse blowing
A = DS
G = gas 12 = 2012 09 = week of manufacture If I remember correctly 2012 was the last year the DS's were produced, (it's too bad... such a great platform!) and I'm pretty sure they came with the 11.5 hp FE350! (Like mine) (Click pics to enlarge) 001 (2).JPG 002 (2).JPG Attached is a pdf of the Illustrated Parts list for 2009 to 2011, I don't have anything for 2012, but DS's haven't changed much over the years. The wiring diagram is on section 6-1 (Electrical System-Gasoline Vehicles) |
