Club car no fire
I have a 1997 ds with the fe290 motor. The motor will not start. I hooked up my spark checker and the flash is very light. New plug no better, i unscrewed the boot and tried the wire directly to the plug and still nothing. If I take the bare wire and hold it just off the motor i get a light spark. The coil i took off was supposed to be only a couple of months old. Ordered a new coil, i got the more expensive one. The cheap one scared me but had the same results. I also unplugged the black wire from the coil. From what I can see this is a ground used to shut the motor off when the micro switch closes. I have messed with several twin motors with the same set up. The coil should fire like crazy from just the flywheel. I have tried 3 coils with the same result just very light spark????
And no rev limiter it has Arcady been removed. |

Re: Club car no fire
Are you using an OEM Kawasaki coil or aftermarket? (It should come in a Kawasaki box). Is the motor itself properly grounded?

Re: Club car no fire
Two different coils around that time. One with an external igniter and one with an internal igniter (built into the coil).
If you use the old style coil that needs the external igniter you’ll get a spark but it will be weak. A 97 cart should be using the newer style coil with the igniter built in. There’s no real difference in the external appearance of the two so you’ll have to verify that you got the correct coil by the part number. Be sure it’s a coil for a 97 and up Clockwise rotation motor. |
