Default Front Leaf Spring Bushings

Hi All,

I'm trying to replace the front leaf spring bushings on my 87 CC. I have ordered several from the sponsor sites and they all appear to be the rear leaf spring bushings. Do they not make a bushing kit for the front? Does anyone know if the new front leaf springs come with bushings?

Your cart must have the greasable bushings in the front suspension.. I think CC changed some of the front suspension parts in the early 90's.. My 1996 uses the same polyurethane bushings in all the springs.. You may have to upgrade to the later model front spring..

I was thinking about putting a new heavy duty spring on it but wasn't sure if it would make the front sit up higher than the back since I'm running the stock springs back there.

Ike has the HD rear springs that I removed one leaf from, and took one of the removed leaves and added it to the front spring.. He sits with a nice rake, and the ride is firm but not bone jarring.. I also installed a Jake's 3" spindle lift.. I still have the other leaf I removed from the rear, drop me a PM if you want it for the front..

I know on my 1996 they are all the same.. I think the earlier carts with the greasable bushings were different.. I remember in one of the pics he posted in his build thread, there was a grease zerk on the delta plate bushing on top of the king pin... My '96 has poly bushings all around, the only grease zerks are in the steering linkage..

Definitely the early CC had the bronze bushing with the grease zirk ... After that ( 88?) they had neoprene bushings which were all the same part # and then the spring had a slightly larger RUBBER bushing that was the same for the front and rear

Cessna,

It may be a long shot, Dexter Axle makes some bronze bushings for their greasable trailer suspensions.. I still have a few here at the house from a suspension rebuild on a travel trailer.. Post a pic of the bushing with some dimensions... If these will work, all ya gotta do is come pick 'em up...

Sorry about the confusion guys. The bushings I was referring to were the rubber ones with the metal spacers that run through the front leaf spring itself. (on a side not, Scotty you are correct, my 87 has brass bushings on the delta's on both ends along with zirks).

Here's a shot of the old bushings in the spring -

LEFT SIDE -

RIGHT SIDE -

Both sides are very worn, but the right side had much more damage -

I should have shot a picture of the back side of it, it was much worse. It was so worn, the metal sleeve has worn through the rubber and rusted fast to the spring itself. I'm having a great time trying to get that side apart! I shot it with some more liquid wrench last night to help free it.

Here is a shot of one of the bushing kits I bought from one of the sponsor sites:

The reason I didn't think I had the right part (which I figured out last night, I do actually have the correct part) was because I was in a hurry to see if it was a fit and just held them "face to face" like this -

The new one seemed so much smaller and the metal sleeve seemed to be longer than I thought it should be :

After I popped the left side out last night and compared the back sides of the new and old bushings, it looks like they will fit the spring. I think the old ones were so badly squashed they pancaked (mmmmm, pancakes......) out quite a bit.

Thanks again for all your help guys! I'm hoping to shoot the black paint on the front end pieces tonight and get them back on the cart sometime this weekend.

YEp. You got it...... put a little spray lube between the rubber and any metal it touches when you put them in. This will help them go in and work easier.
When you get done with the front you can tackle the nastier rear.... same part # Xs 4
