Default My cart won't start! Please help.

Hey guys, I'm still trying to track down my starting gremlin hiding in my 94 cc ds. When I press the gas pedal all I hear is the micro swithches click. My battery tested good,I checked the fuse, I replaced the solenoid (thinking that was the prob. after it tried to start with the ole screwdriver across the post trick), & I tried interchanging the micro switches to find if one was bad. Anyone had this problem??? Thanks in advance for any info.

Interchanged?... or replaced?
The micros are set up that 1 is NO (normally open) and, 1 is and NC (normally closed)
your cart won't run if you have them backwards!

The only way you should test microswitches, is with an ohm meter!

Hope you get it worked out!

Thanks Lockman, I did only inter change the swithches, however made sure to keep the wires in their correct open or closed position on the switches. I also checked the switches with my ohm meter for continuity. They all showed continuity when they should and vice versa. Is there another way to test other than cont. with the ohm meter?

Continuity or voltage either way the results are the same Are you getting solenoid clickage?

Micro's are a switch... they're either on, or off
As scotty said... Voltage or Continuity test the same,
(On the Ohm setting, the meter supplies the voltage, with the voltage setting, the cart supplies the voltage!)

Time to check elsewhere!

Thanks guys, Scotty, no noise out of the solenoid. No clunk only micro switch click. Motor does turn over if I jump the large posts of the solenoid.
Lockman, What is left to check? Willing to look in any direction.

It seems like power is not getting to the solenoid correctly. I get power in one large term.(battery supply of coarse) and ground on the other large as well as both small terminals. (when checked with my test light both with the pedal at rest and when pressed) I thought one of the small term. was supposed to get power when the pedal is pushed. Is that correct or am I even more electrically challenged than I thought?

Yes, you are correct... sounds like the solenoid is not working. The solenoid needs pos and neg (one post of each) at the small posts to operate. Test it with a test light to see if you are getting pos to one small terminal and neg to the other small terminal when you press the peddle ...... is the key on?

I checked it again your right Scotty the key was off. JUST KIDDING!!! But seriously I did check that and the fuse repeatedly along with making sure it was in mate. mode. After checking the solenoid again I do get power to one big and one small terminal and ground to one big and one small (pedal pressed).
I think my new replacement solenoid might be bad just like the original. Is there a good way to test them before I order another new one? Thanks again for the help guys.
