Default bolt missing from butterfly

Noticed my club car was running slow...also very touchy on the pedal in low speeds.....after looking at a few threads decided to pull the carburetor.....noticed one of the bolts on the butterfly is missing....have not found the bolt loose out side the engine.........so what is my next step???? Any help will be appreciated!

93 club car carryall with the 290 kawasaki. There are two bolts that attach the flat part of the butterfly (closes off the air to the carb) to the rod in the carb....the cart was running good a week ago....got in it today and noticed it was really touchy when trying to run at a low speed.....then put it on the road and it was not the same cart as last week...just not as responsive.. motor really wanted to level off quick no matter where I had the rpms at...?? pulled the carb and noticed the bolt missing....afraid the motor has sucked it up??? Hoping someone has had this happen to them before and can tell me do I have to pull the head?? or is there another way to get at it/find it???

thanks,

scott

is the remaining bolt brass or steel? if it is steel you could try a little magnet to see if you can get it out i have had this happen on other engines but not on my cart if by chance that it has been sucked up and made it through the valve into the cylinder you will have to pull the head off for sure and hope that it isn't stuck in the top of the piston or worse....good luck maybe someone else will come by and have more info for you this is just my experience...

thanks ...pretty sure it is not a bronze screw.....think I have one of those magnets on a small telescoping rod.....maybe I'll get lucky...will update once I have tried this..

Already decided I need to buy a new carb....everything carts is close to me and ec gave me good service last week on an order.

Okay...have pulled the head...found damage so it must have been in there at one point...checked muffler, etc and have not found the screw????

Cylinder looks to be okay with no scarring.....see pic of head with damage...also included picture of carb with screw missing in the butterfly....

What should I do next??? butterfly rod is loose so plan on buying new carb but.....what about the damage and where could this darn screw have gone to??

Anything will be appreciated!

Probably stuck harmlessly in the muffler some where? Replace it with soime locktite on both screws and drive it? We have seen this before .... I don't think I would have taken the head off. I might have fished for it with a magnet thru the sparkplug hole? But if it was running okay except the throttle valve problem... it was probably okay? Are the valve seats damaged ?
