Default Dipstick O-ring

Anyone know where I can purchase the o-ring for the dipstick tube on a FE 290 engine besides directly from CC? Thanks, Bert

You could probably have it matched up at any auto parts house

Go to a True Value Hardware store. If they don't have the right size, they can make one for you to any diameter you want. I've done it on several occasions to get the right diameter.

If you have oil leaking in that area you might have a side cover gasket leak. kinda common for them.

I replaced the side cover gasket about 2 years ago. This time the leak it much more substantial. I have a piece of oil absorbant material zip tied around the base of the dip stick tube. It oiled up pretty quick.

I'll try an auto parts store for the oil ring and see if that works. I was wondering if someone had purchased this o-ring from a cart website. I looked at a couple but did not have any luck. I was also thinking of trying to plug the tube's hole with a boat drain plug to verify if this where the leak is, too.

Thanks,

Bert

I found an o-ring in a kit a friend had. This has fixed the oil leak around the dip stick tube but, I still have another leak. I have an oil absorbant pad laying on the belly pan in front of the engine above the oil drain plug. It is collecting oil from above the drain plug somewhere. Bert
