Default serial # question 53rd week?

I’ve got a question about serial numbers, how did they come up with a 53rd week in 2004? My serial number is GP0453

I can't really say this is how it works for them, but a 365 day year equals 52 weeks plus 1 day. I suspect that on that year the extra day fell on the day of the week that they use to count their weeks. Example, if they count weeks by 7 days ending on Saturday, and Saturday was the day that occurred 53 times that year.

In my case, I love the months that have the 5th Friday, because I don't have to put back 1/4 of the monthly budget for bills that week, and I have a little extra. A year or 2 ago Friday was the day with the 53rd day, and I had 5 of those that year instead of the usual 4 times a year!
