Question Unitized Transaxle Service

Replace rear-end oil. Use a 14mm ratchet and socket to remove the lower drain plug of the transmission and differential on Upper/Lower Unit Kawasaki rear ends, only remove the lower one (6:00) on unitized transaxles. Upper/Lower Kawasaki Unit: fill top unit fill plug hole with a relatively light synthetic gear oil. Fill lower unit with 80W-90 gear oil. Unitized Kawasaki/Graziano: Fill top fill plug hole (9:00) with 80W-90 synthetic gear oil.

Looking for clarification on how to service the transaxle/rear end of a 94 CC Gasser.

I found what seems to be a Lower drain and service port. Than just above that there looks to be another set of drain/service port bolts. I drained and serviced the lower unit but should I drain and service the upper half also?

I think you can put synthetic oils in these differentials and forget about them for awhile..... except for checking to see if it needs topping off

I agree with scotty!
I have Mobil 1 80W-90 in mine...
but, as picky as I am... I still change it every year, when I know I could leave it longer!

but, that's just me!

I believe my lower unit was 22 oz. Drain and fill until it over flows from the service port. I haven't done the top unit yet. The bottle I had was 26 oz so you may need two. I used a squeeze bottle with a tube in it that I use when working on my airplane.! Worked great. Give it try!
