Oil Light
Seems the more I mess with this cart the more issues I have. I have gotten my tach to work (somewhat), installed a tie wrap to speed the cart up, now the oil ight starts to come on around 3500 - 3600 rpm. Pulled the dip stick and the level is shows full. What could be causing this issue???

Re: Oil Light
stupid question, is the oil the correct visc? how old is the oil? filter? is it he recommended for your area temps? caterpilliar as this issues on there smaller truck engines, when the oil get to low, even 2 qts low. it will start to aireerate(fill oil with air) causing the oil to have diffent pressures. if you can understand. causing the engine to miss, and act really strange. and dirty oil/ wrong visc. gives the same issues.

Re: Oil Light
I have a 94 CC / FE290 and the book calls for 10W-30. If you haven't done a fresh oil /filter change I would recommend doing that. Also if you do that, fill with oil and turn the engine over in maintenance mode for a minute and than recheck for proper service level. Can't hurt right! You guys getting any of this bad weather down there? We may have snow tomorrow or thur/fri? that should sut the mextro plex down.

Txkyot
Straight 30 is to heavy for that high of rpm, change out with 10w-30 or 5w-30 and your problem will be gone. |

Re: Oil Light
Is there a way of checking to see if the oil light works because I have a clubcar gasser from 1988 and not one time has it ever lighted up.

Here's a tip to check your oil level sensor: At your next oil change, drain your oil, and while the crankcase is still dripping, Turn the key on.... (DO NOT start it!) Your oil light should light up! (low, or no oil indication) change your filter, reinstall the oil drain plug, and refill the crankcase with the recommended amount of oil. Turn the key on, and your light should NOT be lit! It's a pretty simple test... I do it every time I change my oil! |
