Increasing the Jet Size in my Club Car Carby

Hi Guys,
First of all what a great Forum!!!
This is my First ever Posting so please forgive me if i make any mistakes.
I have a 1998 Clubcar with the FE290D Engine in it and i am looking for more Power. So Far i have removed the Govenour and the Rpm limiter and i am now looking to increase the main jet size in the Carby.
can any one tell me the ideal size to drill the main jet out to?
along with the changing the Jet size i will also be installing a high flow fuel pump from the 20hp Briggs engine and a K&N Air filter once i source them both.

How much louder will the exchaust make the cart?
The cart is used weekly on a golf course by my father inlaw so noise needs to be kept as low as possible with out compromising power.
Have you had anything to do with changing the jet size?

Not to rain on your thoughts but you can save your money on the fuel pump swap.
The stock pump will supply plenty of fuel to that motor with the changes you mention.
Jet size will need to be determined after you upgrade the air filter and exhaust unless you buy a kit that someone has already done the R&D and testing for optimum performance gains.

You don't mention if you want more speed or torque?
More torque at the wheels can be gained with the stock motor without the loss of speed with some clutch work also from Tom at CPP.

it does make sense waiting untill the exhaust and air filter are done before playing around with the Jetting. are you aware of any one who does complete kits?
As for Torque and speed i am aimming for a top speed of between 50 -60km ( about 35mile) with as much torque as possible.
I have Contacted Tom Previously about some performance parts for my cart but unfortunately CPP does not ship to Australia which is where i am from.
Is any one aware of how or where i can get my hands on some good quality performance parts for my cart?

lol......does your cart backfire at higher revs??? i did everything you just mentioned. removed govenor, took the ground strap off of the rev limiter, and rejetted the carb on my fe290. it had some back firing issues. cart is now sitting in the shop! the club cart shop owner gave me this really sad look as he explained how the stock motor was designed for golfers on the greens......(translation: old people that don't need or want to go fast). the backfiring caused my head gasket to blow out....head is toast, as well as the jug, or cylinder. i also have a blown out crank case gasket.....which explains why the fuel pump didn't suck...literally. mr.club car shop owner wanted to sell me a new fe290 for 1600.00........and install it for another 500.00. whatever! i told him that i would drag it home and burn behind my barn before i dropped that much green. i can buy a new cart with decent motor for less. when i told him that i was going to pull the fe290 out and toss he was horrified. right now it's in my garage waiting for me to order or find a transplant engine. thinking about 16hp clone. if you continue down this road your on with no revev limiter, no gov.......you'll be looking for a new motor soon. ;)

Well, just in case someone needs the information. I have 2 feet 290 carbs that both have 82 stamped on the Jets. They both measured .032 in size. I drilled mine out to .035. The throttle response time and the cold blooded problem has gone away. I will watch my spark plug and give feedback on if this was to much. I will also give feed back on if this helped with power through the transaxle and the increase if any on my top end speed.
