2003 DS Hitch and Rear Seat Help
Okay, I just joined today and I must say there is alot of great info here...Thanks to everyone for that. This is the first GC I've owned its a 2003 Lynx Edition with a flat bar trailer hitch and a cargo box on the back. I want to remove the box and install a rear seat and still have the function of the hitch. I've seen the rear seats with the flip up foot rest and thats ok but I'd like to keep my options open when choosing a seat. I'm looking for the best options to have a heavy duty hitch and a flip rear seat. Thanks for the help!!

Re: 2003 DS Hitch and Rear Seat Help
Welcome to BGW kj!!! a fellow Wisconsinite, and Lynx owner to boot!!!
You may have to take off the one you have, and get one (or make one) designed for a rear step. When I bought my cart, they (My CC Dealer) took the box and hitch off to put on the rear seat... I've been looking for a hitch also... but from $75 to $100.00... It's not that important to me! Good luck in your search! |

Thanks for the welcoming!!! I was hoping for a quick easy answer, but seems mods never go that way....thanks for the input. I like your pic of the Lynx in the snow!!! Like I said this is my first GC...do they go pretty good in snow?

Re: 2003 DS Hitch and Rear Seat Help
If the rear step plate is metal you can get a hitch to mount to step plate. Make sure to take measurments and ask questions as there is no "STANDARD" rear seat and you will have to make sure hitch will fit step.

Re: 2003 DS Hitch and Rear Seat Help
kj,
Carts go "pretty well" in minimal snow, with more aggressive tires, It can be a blast even with stock tires! (you'll just slip and slide more!) I thought about what BBM said when I made my initial post, (mounting the existing hitch to the step) But, you said you were looking for a "Heavy Duty" hitch, so I didn't say it! I know that if I mounted one to the step, I'd end up trying to tow something stupid, and end up with my rear step on the ground! That's why I'm looking for a frame mounted hitch! (and "sort of" suggested that to you!) scottys rear seat looks like thats kinda' what your looking for, It all depends on what type of rear seat you want, AND, "what" your going to be towing? |

Re: 2003 DS Hitch and Rear Seat Help
Thanks again to everyone for all the welcomes!! Where in WI am I? A place called Campbellsport. <---Where the heck is that....Just south of "Metro" Fond Du Lac. In other words "The middle of nowhere". And I love it!!! Thanks for the discussion about the hitch and seat. I think I'm gonna go ahead and get the seat I want since it will get the most use running around the campground. Then figure out the hitch after that...sounds like I'll go with a frame mount set up. Possibally custom made. Anymore pics, ideas or links to products would be welcome.
