Front-end alignment
I wonder how one could adjust the camber on the front wheels? Everything is so "fixed" in place, I see no adjustments! My cart left the trailer at 65mph, and this bent a lot of things, including the front left upper wheel bracket and the leaf spring on the left side. I've replaced everything, and now the front left tire seems to noticably lean out at the top (or in at the bottom). The right side seems straight up and down.
Just another note, since everything was bent, I straighted the upper wheel bracket to match the left side. It had some bend in it that the right side didn't. Thanks for any help. |

Re: Front-end alignment
If its a club car your delta tower could be bent on the top pushing out the a arm, there is an adjuster on the bottom leaf spring you may want to look at that,

Re: Front-end alignment
The cart stayed on its wheels! But, the front left suspension took quite a hit!
I had to straighten the A arm (or did I? Maybe it was supposed to be bent?) The adjustment on the leaf spring? I see a centering bolt, the head of which ONLY fits in a slot on the top bracket. Is that the adjustment? Which would serve to move the spring from side to side? Wouldn't that affect both sides? I will look at the delta tower more closely and try to get that off-set head to fit the slot at some position besides directly forward or backward. Thanks so far. |

Re: Front-end alignment
yo the "centering bolt" has a odd shaped head to it. if you loosen eveything and tunr the blot, it will shift the lower spring slighlty to the left or right, then tighted all dowm. the arms that i know of ar not bent or suposed to be bent. the delt frame, or the sshock tower , it holds the rack and pinion, upper shock mounts and the a arms is going to cause you a lot of greef if twiste, bent or wobber jobber. pull it off and check it to see if it is straight, and not twisted. if not get a new one. it will sve you a whole lot of headaches. i ahd a carryall do a header into a cherry tree, bent the bumber, the shock frame, the front frame section and bent the rack and pion on the steering, but it only showed damage to the bumber, and brush gaurd. the shock moutn was around 60 bucks at the dealer. but it saved a lot of headache wheni found out mine was tweeked just right. i would bite the bullet and buy new arms and either by a new spring, or see if a spring shop can re arch it for you.
dont forget that aluimium act completly diffent then steel, it flexes more, but will tear insted of braking or bending. it also may do this in other areas you would bnot expect, such as under the body, or in the front floor board area. so take a good look here too for any damage. |

Re: Front-end alignment
I did check the a arms. the left one was bent (just a little). I straightened it to match the right side. I think I did a pretty good job of it, if I do say so myself, and I do!
I have replaced the spring and put on new shocks. I have examined the spindles and they seem fine. (Repacked wheel bearings while I was there). So, I think the parts are all OK,it is just a matter of getting BOTH wheels to stand up straight, not just the right side one. Thanks for the input. I will look more closely at some of the other frame areas you mentioned. |

Re: Front-end alignment
yoyo di you check the spindle and the king pin on the left siide? there are bronse bushings in he spinde that the kink pins ride in. andthere is a washer and bushing on each side if i rember right. jack the front left of the ground andb the wheel and see ifthere is any movement. this is a indication the bushings are gone.
if it is pullthe wheel, pull the 3/4 nut offthe axle and pull from the spring, then pulle it out and see if its damaged, or scared in any way. themn the bushings are right there in the spindle. all you will have to do is pull the tie rod off to get it out. onad then you can cla=ean it and get a better picture how they look. |
