Default Value of this used 1996 Club Car Gasser

I am looking at picking up a 1996 Gasser. From the pictures it looks like the body has been painted badly and would need to be stripped and repainted or replaced (looks like they used a truck liner) and the motor has a few issues.

From the seller "I have a 96 gas Club Car with a Kawasaki engine, it started sputtering about a year ago and obviosly needed some carb. work. "

Should I expect more then just carb work?

What do you think the cart is worth? Here are some pics.

I would ask the owner to email the serial number of the cart (AG96...) and the serial number of the motor (FE290...) to confirm the year and motor type. The latter is on that white sticker in your 3rd picture. Then do a little more research on the internet. The more information you have the better you can negotiate. I would give yourself a $500-600 cushion to invest in new belts, oil, gear oil, fuel lines, fuel filters, air filter, oil filter, spark plug, performance upgrades, cosmetic upgrades, etc. It won't take long to add up.

About 6 weeks ago, I bought a 97 DS CC gas for $3,100 that had a lot of upgrades (new lift kit, new rims/tires, rear seat, diamond plate, etc.). I think I overpaid, but it was very close to my house. The cart runs ok, but I've still managed to spend an additional $300.

That does look in ruff shape. Well here a positive note about that cart, it is a 96 with the correct rotation for a bigger motor swap and of course that it is a club car. Thats two good things. I bought a 90 & 99 for $1300 each in good shape, running etc... The 99 smokes a lil but has good compression. The 90 needed the rear driven clutch worked on a little. The cheaper you can get it, the better. Also mine were pretty clean fro their ages.

Thanks. He offered it to me for 600. I am going to talk to him today on the phone and find out all of the issues and see if I can't make an in person trip. Anything you know of that I should look out for? I'm coming from the world of electrics and well, yeah. I've rebuilt a mower motor before, how bad is a CC FE-290?

Wow, nice. I haven't been having much luck around the Austin area finding deals. The just fly off the shelfs. I was wanting to do a bigger motor swap at some point that's why when I heard it was a 96 I got excited but then I want something I'm not going to dump a ton into to start. I would like to stay < 1K getting it running and cleaned up. I'm worried the dude used bed liner paint meaning I'm going to have to toss the body.

Anything I should look out for on a gas cart? I'm coming from the world of electrics so I'm still getting up to speed.

Paid $1000 last month for a 1994 no extras....works ok. Needs new tires and probably a tune-up. It didn't have fuel filters in it.

I recently bought an ex golf club 97 gasser for $500. Runs great but body is a little scruffy, needs tires and some suspension work. I figure another $200 will have it looking good. I just heard of another Golf club who are selling off 2003 CC gassers for $1900 each. If anyone is interested I could check it out.

Chris.

I would want to hear it run and not a smoker, make sure the clutches are ok and that it runs in forward and reverse. And yes that 290 is a good motor.

mustang1988, you from the austin area? I found the 99 in austin or san antonio but this was about 4 years ago. I found the 90 local here a couple months back as I am from corpus christi and they are rare here. You are right, the real good deals doe golf carts are selling as soon as they are listed. I was thinking of doing the bedliner on my 99 cart as it is my working one, not show. If you dont want it lmk as I want the rearend
