brake drag
hey guys - back in the garage now that the weather is nicer.
i am still trying to work out the back sucking pressure deal on this cart. when it runs on jack stands - no problem could run forever with no issues, as soon as i put the cart on the ground and run it after maybe 5 minutes it slows down, almost stops and makes a sucking noise. i have removed the brake drums to find that there is a lot of crap stuck to the inside of the drum and the brake shoes a re rough looking and everythin in there is dirty. could this be causing the drag that would make the engine want to fail? any help on this is always appreciated - you guys on this form ROCK. Thanks |

Re: brake drag
Is the cart lifted? Is there some slack in the cables?

Re: brake drag
Maybe clean up your brakes and adjust a little slack into the cables so they are not too tight and adjust the shoes off of the drums so they are not dragging ..... CC has self adjusting shoes = every time you step on the brake it ratchets up the adjuster .....they can overdo it

Re: brake drag
the slides are usually the culprit from what lil i know about these brakes. they need to be lubricated so they slide back and forth easily.

Re: brake drag
Whistler is right also about the shoe slides
Spray everything down real good with brakekleen product and sand the shoes and spray again.... then put grease on the slides etc. Careful not to get any grease on the drums or shoes. |
