Ok, for someone that knows what the problem could be and not make it sound dramatic but the straight problem.
I recently bought a Briggs & Stratton 16HP V-Twin motor, and the owner said that it smokes like Crazy & it has low compression. Could this be a piston ring that has dammage that lets oil up to the piston that burns the oil? Any help could work. |

check the compression and if it is low squirt a little oil in the cylinders
and check it again and if it goes up a lot then its probably rings if it doesn't its probably valves..either way these engines are pretty simple to work on and you can get the owners/parts manual from briggs web site.. |

Dude, thank you so much. I didn't have a manual for it and I needed a manual sooo bad. I was going to buy one online for 30.00 but you saved me. Even though its not really words to tell me what to toruqe and install back on my engine. But its still good enough. Thanks even for the help on the issue itself.

Ya, it helped cause I completely took it apart and now I need to bore the motor exactly ".20" and get new pistons & rings. So yeah, todwil do you know anywhere here in Phoenix that does engine cleaning? Like, its really in need of a cleaning since its dirty like crazy, grease and such.

When I clean engines i take them to a car wash and wash them out
maybe adding a little simple green, but if your getting it bored out the machine shop should be able to hot tank it...!!! |

Alright, I'll call them and ask them if they do that. Cause now, I'm using Carb Cleaner thats doing a good job on thinner dirt areas, but its really dirty and mocked on there.

We used a parts washer with paint thinner as a degreaser on the 46 Indian motor and transmission thin after cleaning we "blasted" them with Baking soda. The gun looked kinda like the small sand blasters that have the cup on top.
