Default How can I secure my rear access hatch?

It gets so hot that it winds up popping off and allowing fumes up to my passengers. I try to keep it pulled tight but I can't spend too much time on it every 10 mins. There's the back seat in the way that makes it hard to get a good look at the securing holes. There is nothing on the cover now to help secure it. Just the two holes that align up with the holes in the body.

What was the stock way of securing it? What ways have others dealt with or ideas does anyone have to help secure it but allow for relatively easy removal when I have to take it off? I think I'm going to have to modify something to make it work just not sure how as of yet.

After a parts search on part sites I see that the factory equipment is pretty easy to get in and out but am having trouble locating the club car part #... Hmm...guess I will call the dealer and get the number.

Got it.... $1.50 a piece at the dealer.... Will cost more in fuel to get it than the parts cost. Looks like its easy on/easy off nut. Just what I want.

After wasting $6 in fuel to go find out these pos oem parts are worthless I found a hardware store had a better option. The factory bolts are a waste....and not at all easy to get on or off contrary to what a dealer parts person told me.

Wish I would have seen this earlier,
Ace Hardware carries a rubber expansion nut/insert.
It is a round rubber plug with a brass threaded insert in it, stick it in the hole, install cover and then screw the screws into it. As it tightens, it expands the rubber to lock it in.
Get two for 1/4-20 screws and two 1/4-20X1" stainless phillips head screws.

Cool, I'll look into it if my method doesn't work. I got one of those butterfly, drywall type nuts and a wingnut/washer to tighten down from the topside. It's under the seat so nobody will see it and I can reach over and twist it off easy peasy. The back side will be held tight by the head of the nut from the bolt that came with the butterfly/bolt thing threaded in backwards so it will stop the butterfly from twisting off the backside. When I unthread the wingnut it will give me the room to tilt or close the butterfly and slide it all out.

Thanks for the reply. If that's too much of a hassle I'll look into the rubber dealio but use a twist head nut so I can just reach in blindly and twist it out.

My idea was kind of a pain in the azz to manage with the tight clearance of the seat above it. I'm gonna get those rubber expansion things and use the hand twist head nuts. I think that would be the simplest way to secure it and be able to take it off with minimal hassle. Thanks for your input.

Do you mean get two rubber expansion plugs for the 1/4-20 screws and two stainless phillips head screws which instead I'll be using the twist head nuts?

Yea, one on each corner, replace the stainless screws with the thumb screw you are talking about
