Default is my carb bad?

sometimes the cart will run good, but sometimes it will spitter and stuff and just wont start it will keep turning over like theres no gas in it. i have to remove the air intake tube and put my hand over the carb hit the gas pedal and it will turn over then after 5 seconds i can feel the gas hit my hand and it will take off. i have cleaned the gas lines and the tank doesn't suck air in when i remove the gas cap, so could the carb be bad on the cart or do i have another problem.

Sounds like you got some trash in the carb!... Remove the carb and take the bowl off of it. blast the carb out with some carb cleaner.. takes me about 10 min. or so... Screw drive, 10mm wrench and a needle nose plier and of course a can of carb cleaner!!

Take the carb off and tear it down, get a set of welding tip cleaners and clean all bore holes. Slip the pin and re move float and needle valve and flush the inlet seat.

I saw your carb in the alley with some other engine parts breaking beer bottles and spray painting walls. It may not be bad, just hanging around with the wrong crowd. Time to clean up it's act!

LOL... I have did the carb teardown more than once trying to fix the same problem... Just when you think you have cleaned it and got every bit of trash out of it.. Tear it down and clean it again!!!Make sure your gaskets are good! That little red straw that comes with the carb cleaner is your best friend!!! Put that straw in every hole you can Mainly where your fuel line hooks and blast that thing out while you work the float uo and down!!

Rob your air filter box and hose assembly must be sealed 100% correctly for the choke to work.
Double check it from the choke knob/button all the way back to the carb for air leaks.

Well I checked the air box and the intake hose and their air tight, no leaks. I used two cans of carb cleaner and a welding cleaning tip to clean what I could see and nothing. the cart ran alot better for about 5 minutes then when I stopped it, for a couple minutes and hit the gas right back to the same thing. I did notice now I can hold the choke in till the motor trys to start and then it will take off. but it's not like on my 2stroke where I pull the choke and it will take off, this cart sits for close to a minute till it will take off with the choke pushed in. I'm guessing I need a new carb.

Thank You all for the help.

forgot what larry said about the gasket, I will have to check it because I didnt even look at the gasket.
