Re: slow starting
When you say start, are you saying it cranks but wont turn on, or it wont turn over as the starter wont turn the motor over?

Re: slow starting
it sounds like a low battery when not starting. it will back fire a little so i know its getting gas. i checked battery and even charged battery. drove around my loop several times stopping and starting. could i have a relay going bad or maybe a coil? it always fires up just slow doing it. i have even tried different positions of the gas pedal. did not make a difference

Re: slow starting
So the motor is spinning over as soon as you push the pedal, it just takes 30 - 40 seconds to start and rev up, correct?

Re: slow starting
You might need to check starter brushes and armature,
Lets start small, Take a spare spark plug with you and when it gets hot and you try to restart, pull the plug wire and stick in the new plug on the block to see if you have fire. If yes, I would check compression and then consider maybe valve clearance adjustment. |

Re: slow starting
if you want you can check 3 of the 4 starter brushes without doing anything to starter just take a look around the edge you,ll see black rubber covers they are square about an inch or a bit more long.........just pop it out look at brush and pop it back in again..........if you find you need brushes you,ll need to remove the starter...........................................
