Crank grinding?
I just received a 95 carry all with a non-running engine(290fe). I pulled apart and found rod snapped off crank. This of course scored crank a little. Mr dilema is I've had no luck finding a local shop to grind crank. Does/has anyone had a crank machined for the 50 over rod. I prefer to keep this rebuild as cheap as possible until I can set aside funds for a clone or BB swap so any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Crank grinding?
Never mind. Just noticed counter balance journals are shot. Now need to decide on rebuilt engine or swap. Anyone have a used 290 laying around?

I have access to an FE 290 motor in good condition. It runs 155 psi compression hot, no smoke issues and is clean. It's from a 1998 CC that got wrecked when the cart rolled out of a trailer on its way home and the owner forgot to tether the cart on the trailer. I was waiting on another project cart to install it on but if you are in dire need its yours for $450 complete + shipping. Chris. |

Re: Crank grinding?
Thanks for the offer, but that would be a cw rotation.

Re: Crank grinding?
Tom @ Carts Parts Plus has engine laying around from his big block swaps. He has always been very good to me. I built my whole cart using almost all of my parts from him. Give Tom a call he might talk you into a big block kit which you wouldn't regret btw.

Re: Crank grinding?
Thanks Highrollin. I'm probably going the clone route to keep cost down.
