87 CC lift and power loss
I have an 87 CC gas cart. I recently had a lift kit installed with bigger tires and a driven torque spring put in it. It used to run 23.7 (gps)and was able to climb a certan hill and down shifted to do it. Now it runs 21 gps and won't make it half way up the same hill. Is this normal ?

well theres your problem lol(buggies unlimited stuff is mostly chinese junk, the bigger the tires the less torque and the more speed, maybe you didnt put the spring in right or maybe a worn belt, the speed should be higher.

The size of the lift doesn't matter, it's the size of the tires. If you have the old flat head in it, that's why it isn't that fast. Those motors were DOGS, but they had plenty of torque. Although, the spring should have brought it back to the torque it had with the stock tires on it. Maybe check compression on it. I believe it should be around 120-150. 100 is ok, but any lower than that and I'd go for new rings and head gasket.

So will going to 20x10x8 tires and rims help? There is only one way to put the driven HD spring in. What about having the clutck machined ?

Having the clutch machined helps TREMENDOUSLY! Send it to Tom at www.cartpartsplus.com and he can have it machined for $50 I believe. Or, if you don't want to spend the money on a big block you can upgrade it to the FE290 which is in the 92-03. Or, have a talk with Xtremecarts about the Chinese Honda he has. It's 13HP and he says he really likes it. And they're pretty cheap.
