Just bought a 2001 gas club car that had governor rod fully adjusted out. The cart ran very fast and had good takeoff. I needed to slow her down a bit as we use in RV park and did not want someone to get hurt. I shortened up the governor shaft and now she has slowed down a fair amount but have lost take off speed. It takes much longer to get to top speed but runs great after she gets up to speed. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help I am sure I didnt do something right

Sorry I didnt give you enough info.. No Lift and std tires. Cart had good high speed and good take off untill I adjusted the governor rod. It was entended to full and I slowed her down but also lost take off . Very slow off line but good high speed. Just takes a long time to get there. Would I have damaged engine running cart on max lenght throttle rod

I don't know a whole lot about these carts yet......But sounds like you limited the throttle so now you don't have WOT which you need to accelerate. Adjust the rod back where it was and limit the top end somewhere else. Like the rev limiter?

you need WOT for full power IMO. Just be light on the gas... thats best for em...
