how well do the kf82 motors run?
I am working on a 90 cc ds and the motor needs a rod and the cam needs rebuilt because the rivits broke where the gear connects to the cam. is it worth the trouble to rebuild these motors/ i will be running a lift big tires and hauling a bunch of bikers arround and im concerned that the motor will not have the power to run up hill.

I have a 90 CCDS gas also, I think in if the cart is stock it is ok but put big tires on it with more than two people and then up a hill, the cart will be a turd. My engine runs perfect but it lacks low end grunt

Re: how well do the kf82 motors run?
my 86 completely stock runs at 27 mph..................is it worth rebuilding yes as long as you find the parts i would buy the rebuild kit it comes with everything but the balance shaft and after the engine is out your done in no time at all..........it would take a whole lot for me to give that engine up imho i think its a great engine.....................................

A sturdy engine if taken care of to the best of my understanding.

Re: how well do the kf82 motors run?
Well ***, if they are that good, then I dont know crap. I was afraid to put bigger tires as my 99 pulls so much better. Now the flathead does have more top end but the the gov is bypassed. Maybe I shouls lift mine and put bigger tires and see what the o flathead can do.

Re: how well do the kf82 motors run?
Well guys thanks for the help, I have no idea how it runs it was broke when I got it. I have scored a good bottom half off ebay and my top end is good, so I think for now I will use the motor and see how it does..

Re: how well do the kf82 motors run?
if you want it right i suggest you buy the complete rebuild kit.........new crankshaft and you can sell yours and recoup some of the cost, by the way just a new crank cost at least 1/2 of what the rebuild cost and you,ll have all new parts in there except the balance shaft, just a thought...........................
