Lifted Cart - Engine Oil Level Question
Just finished Jakes 3" lift on my '03 DS. The cart will see some fairly steep hills at times. Is it necessary to level the engine to avoid any oil pickup issues? Is the pickup tube toward the front or rear of the oil sump? Thanks.

Re: Lifted Cart - Engine Oil Level Question
With a 3" lift, you shouldn't have to level the engine pan... 6"+ it may be a good idea!
By the looks of my "illustrated parts manual" the oil pick up screen is right in the middle of the block. (I haven't had my 07 apart, so someone corrrect me if I'm wrong!) Just keep an eye on the "low oil light" during a steep climb, if need be, you could lower the front of your engine pan, 1 1/2" center to center (see pic) But I don't think you'll need to! |

Re: Lifted Cart - Engine Oil Level Question
Thanks Lockman1. I saw some earlier posts indicating I may have to extend the air filter tube and maybe the brake cables if I dropped the engine pan very much. I'll take your suggestion and just watch the oil light for a while. Good idea on the snubber extension plate btw. What is the input for the oil warning light: pressure? flow? sump float switch? Thanks. -Z

Re: Lifted Cart - Engine Oil Level Question
A bit indecisive... are we?
If your oil light comes on frequently during hill climbing and acceleration, then do what you have to do to make sure you have proper oil circulation. I lowered the front of my engine pan only because I kept losing my snubber with the harsh angle the bracket was on. |
