Default CDI or Ingitor 91 Club Car same problem as Holland's Post

I have the same problem that Holland posted and cannot locate a replacement part. Holland's issue was solved, but nothing posted as to how it was solved?

My 1991 Club Car DS has a CDI unit (aka ingnitor) two prongs and one black lead as listed here http://www.golfcartpartsdirect.com/ecom-catshow/57.html

Part has been discontinued does anyone know how to replace this part or find a replacement part?

Thanks

I would be surprised if the site sponsors don't carry the part but if that's the case they are all over the place on ebay. Another member posted that John Deere lawn tractors of a certain age also use the same ignitor and it's a helluva lot cheaper. Try the search function. The post is only a week or so old.

What I find interesting Chris in this forum is that there are a lot of questions and issues that are solved, but hardly anyone post's how it was solved? Most issues solved are either in "PM's" or email's and not shared with the community.

I have searched for this part, but what I'm finding is that a lot of retailers are not using the correct "tags" for the part. Club Car refers to the part as a "CDI Unit", others call it an ignitor. I have found one part that comes close, but the wiring is different, no black wire to the shut off switch.

I will continue my search, but I'm sure someone on this site has had the same issue, just finding it can be like finding a needle in a hay stack.

I don't know, but I tend to believe, sometimes, the parts are not available from "site sponsers", but can be found at "non site sponsers". We are not suppose to post links to non site sponsers, if I understand the rules correctly. Just saying.

I wholeheartedly support the site sponsors and will cheerfuly purchase parts from them and recommend them as a source of parts to others Jimmie. However, if they can't supply certain pieces and / or sell such items for grossly inflated prices (igniters are a case in point) I will happily point a person in the right direction. Not everyone here has unlimited funds or a Platinum AMEX card and if that means that someone can buy a part (igniter) for $12.50 as opposed to $46.50 and get up and running without breaking the bank then so be it. I learned my lesson from buying a $ 3.00 part with $15.00 S & H that was posted in an envelope with a regular stamp on it. Back home in England there is a data base of parts with cross referenced numbers that allow a person to check the relative cost of parts from the OEM as opposed to the end supplier; how about a flasher unit for a Porsche 911 @ $96.50 from Porsche as opposed to the identical part direct from Bosch for $12.00 for example ? It seems to me that golf cart owners are viewed much like Porsche owners; self indulgent and can afford nice items so let's stick it to em !! That kind of arrogance without the freedom of open market competition needs to get slapped down and more the fool us for buying into the scam.

I have the pair, ignitor and impulse coil for sale out of a 341 flathead that the crank went bad. I has the 3 prong hookup but that won't matter if you change both. 45.00 shipping included.
