pit crew cart
hi new to the forums and just saying thanks for all the info you guys have up here. i am an auto mechanic and my shop has its own race team. we have a club car golf cart we take to the tracks to work the pits. my boss wanted it to go faster so we could make it back and forth from the pits to the grid. so i disabled the governor and the rev limiter from the info i got here and actually fixed a few wiring problems on it that i have not been able to figure out for the longest time because i had no luck finding a wiring diagram till now. but i just got done working on it about 5 minutes ago and the thing flies. its almost too fast now. i think i will be adding a rear sway bar to it and i should have a tach ordered for it tomorrow.

Re: pit crew cart
hey question for anyone reading this. the cvt pullies change the position for the drive belt to increase and decrease speed with the rpm of the engine. my question is can i do something to maybe stop it from moving. we often use the cart to pull broke down cars around the shop and if i could make it stay geared low and get the rpm's up it would pull a hell of alot better.
oh and to any mods. sorry for getting my email as my username. its been awhile since i played on the forums i must have typed my email twice when i registered instead of just putting in a username. |

Re: pit crew cart
You might get the Power Kit from Cart Parts Plus.
http://www.cartpartsplus.com/club-car-power-kit.html You might also get both clutches machined by Tom. http://forums.cartpartsplus.com/viewtopic.php?t=570 Jimmie |

Done. Don't forget use the frankr2994 as your username when logging in next time. Password (whatever it is) should still be the same.

Re: pit crew cart
hey thanks now i don't look like such a jagoff lol.
and i just checked out that power kit. not exactly what i was looking for. i was hoping someone on here found a way to hold it down lower but was still able to release it. i know that is asking for alot but we still want it to go fast which is does now. but those times when we are pulling a car (sometimes a race car up ramps onto a trailer. it would be nice for the top speed to be like 5 so even if it can't pull it maybe it would spin the tires instead of sit there and hum. and not that i really went at it yet but the front pulley is just a clutch correct? and the rear pulley is actually what opens and closes changing the gear ratio. i may do a little looking around back there and see if i could possibly shim it in a way that is removable |

Re: pit crew cart
The rear and the front pully work together to change the ratio. Like some drill presses or like if you were to change sprockets on a dirt bike. If you can keep the belt at the top of the rear pully, you will have what you want because the front will not be able to close up all the way. So, here is my 100% untested idea...
Could you pull the back pulley off and drill a 3/8" hole down near the center where it would not interfear with the proper operation but in a location where the hole would pass through inner and outer plates. When you need high torque, pop a 3/8 bolt in and finger tighten a nut on the back side. This would not hit anything when it was spinning but I "think" it might keep the belt from pulling down in the center and changing the ratio. I bet you could lay on the ground from behind the cart and put the nut and bolt in in less then 15 seconds once you got the hang of it. Just an idea, if it don't work, or causes your dog to bite you, etc. don't blame me. |

Re: pit crew cart
Interesting idea, but I'm cocncerned this would cause a balance problem.
