Default !999 DS Engine surge

I have a 1999 DS and when I press the gas it will run great but then surge a little. It does not matter if it is warm, cold, full throttle. I have cleaned the carb, checked all lines, cleaned the fuel pump, new fuel filters, adjusted the throttle cable. I undid the rpm limiter and it ran fine. I went and purchased a new rpm limiter and when I installed it, it did the same thing. It seems to run fine without the rpm limiter. My family drives this and I would like the limiter to work. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the Forums. I started my first thread with what turned out to be associated with the limiter...huge hesitation followed by backfiring.

[scratch this]Try this. There is a throttle linkage between the "Black Box" and the carburetor. Loosen the 10mm nuts on the Box end and LENGTHEN the cable casing that is carrying the throttle cable from the Box to the carb. by screwing the nuts until the one on the inside of the Box is as far out as it will go. Retighten the outer nut.

This reduces the top end of the carburetor slightly (someone with a better explanation can chime in) and prevents the engine from over revving that kicks in the limiter, which in turn causes the momentary hesitation. I doubt you will notice any appreciable reduction in the top end of the cart.

I hope that corrects the situation.
[/scratch this]

You already did this and it didn't work.

You may have to "feather" the accelerator with your foot to prevent the hesitation. Not a very good "fix"

I am havine the same problem with my 96 CC look at the carburator issues that I have post. I am getting ready to tear this down to get to the coil and test it with an ohm meter. I will let you know what I find on this
