Default Will anyone loan me drive clutch puller tool

I also need the drive clutch holder tool as well. It looks like a piece of flat stock with a notch in the end to hook on to one of the pulley bosses so you can back out the retaining nut. Obviously I would be happy to pay for shipping both ways. I have a paypal account or check. Thanks. I wouldn't mind spending the $40 for the puller but buying both would suck.

any of you FAB guys can make me the clutch holder. Make yourself a couple bucks for a few minutes of grinding. I don't have all my tools back yet since we moved. Or if anyone wants to sell the one they have.

hey i was able to just use a steering wheel puller to get the front part of the clutch off and for the back part i made the tool that they sell online to pop it off and it still wouldnt come off. i ended up getting it off with about 10 good hits with a hammer and a block of wood. you can get the steering wheel puller from pepboys or advanced auto. i think advanced auto even loans them out.

Just left this on your other post.

Remove the spark plug, rotate the crankshaft until the piston is in the bottom of the stroke
Get a 3' piece of Nylon rope that will fit in the plug hole and shove about 2' in it. From the clutch side, rotate the crank clockwise until it stops. Use a socket and breaker bar to loosen the bolt. The Nylon will compress some but it will hold it.

I agree $40 for a bolt is a lot. I made my own and it worked great for me. The pushing pin is two grade 8 bolts (so they wont bend) welded together and the bolt is just a 7/16-20 fine thread bolt. The pusher and bolt arent joined together like the ones you buy because I wasnt sure how that grade 8 bolt would drill but I am going to try it this weekend. As far as the holding tool I am sure I could make it but I am not sure of the dimensions. About five years ago I tried to pull the clutch for the first time and used a regular 5/16 bolt cut off and a bolt that fit in the clutch. Disaster the bolt bent inside and jammed so I took it to a friends shop and we put the bolt into the clutch and used a large slide hammer hooked to it to pull the clutch. I wouldnt recomend this method.

Colchester, CT. I am going to try some of the advice I got here and hopefully it works. I don't want to make a tool and then have some of the problems I see that guys have had. I just had back surgery so It's a bit tough to hold the clutch and get the nut off, thats why I just want the correct tool

Success I think. I just made a clutch holder. I havent tried it yet in a real application because my parts did not make it here yet. It should work great though. It locks on very tight and should not slip because it wraps around the center which actually pulls the hook into the boss as you put pressure on it. Didnt know if I should post it here so I put it in the design center.

i,m not sure if you,ll understand this but when i need to hold a clutch i use a screwdriver type prybar, i just wedge it between engine and rear of clutch and in most cases it works but if it slides i than pull bar towards me for more pressure and it holds......i havn,t had this fail yet.....................
