Trailer ooops....just a reminder

This is what is left of my 06 gas club car. Going from one marina to the other at the lake....didn't tie down the cart because ......i'm stupid? Anyway, after the parking brake came loose on a bump at 60 mph, she side swiped a tree and rolled. Going to make a toy out of that one now because she is hurt.....went out today and ordered a 2011 ez go gas 2+2 sport. By the way, i'm new to buggies as a poster....have often read your postings to learn and thank you all very much for being nice people. Now, remember your straps!!!! Mine was not covered by insurance and i just got that cart 4 months ago. Rehab fleet cart.

Thanks! I've really had fun playing with carts so far. The possibilities are endless......if your pockets are deep enough. My new one that I will pick up tomorrow will remain stock for now. Will post picture tomorrow. will make good before and after because it will be fixed up eventually. As I said, I am new to this...where do we go just to discuss things about carts, not just about repair and such? I haven't figured out how to navigate this site yet.

welcome.......the last thing i saw fly off a trailer was a guys boat and motor.......same thing not tied down..........only good thing is on one was hurt and a big bonus it was covered under ins. that helps........there is a big block or lifted carts forum here just start clicking your way thur you,ll end up somewhere homey.................................... ......

Bummer! I'm actually surprised at how well it held together...?!

I didn't think to strap down my cart the day I hauled it from the golf course. It never got out of the trailer, but it sure tried.

I just hauled mine on it's annual 100 mile trip. I strap it down at each corner, but after a few potholes and RR crossings, the straps have stretched or given enough to warrant a few more clicks.

I'm also done using this type of trailer:


From now on I'm using a standard low-rail flatbed. It's a lot easier to hook the straps up. Next time I'm going to add a center strap, like a belt across the floor as an extra measure to keep the cart weighted down.

btw, it confused the heck out of my insurance agents, but I was able to obtain insurance for my cart for I think under $100...?

nothing better to haul them with those u-hail trailers........well built and enough room.....i see them on the road on those 4 by 8 trailers and it scares my to heck it wouldn,t take much for the cart to go flying................

I'll give you that. They're big and sturdy and those 0-gravity ramps have probably saved countless toes.

Still, I'm done with them. My last reservation was sent to a place that wasn't even open, then re-sent to a place with no inventory. When they finally found a trailer, it had what turned out to be a defective ground so I spent $20 on a new adapter and still had to drive 100 miles with blinking lights.

I sent in a complaint to corporate and checked the box for "response via email". Some dude left me msg's for weeks from a cellphone in Kentucky.

It's also tough to attach the straps to the front of the cart with those high walls and there's no way to deploy my "belt" strap idea.

I tow with a 5x8, very similar to the U-Haul. Trailer was built by Holmes with med high open sides. I made wood sides 24" high. I use a strap around the cowl under the steering wheel and go down the front of the trailer to the tongue, and 2 straps in the rear. I put a piece of 4x4 next to one rear tire and strap it tight that corner, and another going to the other corner. Works like a champ.

I need a trailer with solid sides for everything else it does.

I brought mine home from where I bought it, in the back of my short bed p/u with the rear wheel pushed behind the wheel well in the truck and the front end held with 2 bungee cords, man was I scared. I plan on taking it to the campground the same way except with ratchet straps instead of bungee's.
