Front Cowl Questions

Ok I ran into this the other day. Ordered a set of lights for customer and when he went to put them on he noticed they didnt fit properly. The cart is a 1992 Gas DS. There appears to be a change in the front cowls and I was not aware of this. Does anyone know what years they changed them?

i,m sorry i don,t see a difference other than one being lifted..........................

Me either. I'm not aware of a cowl change over that time period. I just checked some headlight listings and they all appear to be selling to the DS Club Car market from 1982 and up to the Precedent model.
I would double check with your supplier to be sure but I have to wonder if the customer is seeing or doing something wrong with the kit.

yeah chris i agree, i know there was a change but its up around 2000 or newer..........anything from mid or late 80,s up to 2000 at least should be the same.............................

Look closely at the non lifted cart and notice that there are 3 body lines running horizontal across the front cowl. The club car emblem is set back (recessed) and the lifted older DS cart is not. Now I just took in another for repair and its the same as the lifted cart. There is a difference and the light kits are not fitting properly. I will get some better pics up tomorrow.

I've looked long and hard but other than the removal of the CC logo badge I see no difference in the front cowls. There appears to be three distinct horizontal lines across the front of each Which ones lifted btw ?

If you look closely at the CC logo decal on both you'll notice on the green cart that top break line is interrupted by the logo area. On the other cart it is not. It also appears that the upper horizontal area is larger on the green cart.

Where are the lights not fitting correctly? Is the lower horizontal area smaller on the green cart?

ok now i see it...........yep theres a difference but i can,t see that effecting the lights where you mount them.......................................

The lights fit perfectly on the green cart, however the gold cart front cowl they have a big gap in hte lower part because the body lines are different. I will get a pic of the install from customer and post. He sent it to me via phone and I have erased it.

I am just saying that maybe there is a light kit that will work on the older front cowls? I had no idea that they were different until this came up. Just thought I would pass it on. Also will be contacting dealers to let them know as well. It says application fits 82-current DS?

These would probably work becuase they are narrower from top to bottom.


Now they read 1993-present: So there is a difference!!

I wasnt aware of a body cowl change either until this problem. And it is a difference in the cowls, I am looking at 3 in my shop. It appears 92 was the last year of the old style front cowl and fender flares on the rear. Also 92 was the first year for the Kaw FE-290 I believe?
