low fuel pressure
looking for ideas to check when I get home from work, my 01 CC left the kids stranded in the woods, the nieghbor went out to check it and it started up but ran ruff and had very little power. He blow out the fuel lines with my air compressor and that seamed to help but not fixed, any ideas? only modifaction is the zip tie around the spring on the throttle cable

Re: low fuel pressure
well I have a little more info. It runs just fine for a few minutes then it seems to run out of gas, if you push down the gas peddel it will idle but not rev up. I am going to see if i can find a rebuild kit for the pump or just replace it but that will be after vacation.

Re: low fuel pressure
new question, is overriding the throttle cable spring and leaving the eletronic govenor that bad for this kind of cart? And could the increased rpm of the engine damaged the fuel pump?

Re: low fuel pressure
i would be more concerned with the increased rpm damaging the engine......they arn,t made for constant over-revving.......as for the fuel pump over-revving isn,t going to hurt it......when you say it idles but won,t rev up are you sure its still running? cause once its running if your pressing the pedal it has to rev up thats the way its made..................so really check to make sure its even running.........put it in maintence mode and check it out........................................

Re: low fuel pressure
It is running, I took the seat off and you can watch it run and the throtle cable moves but it acts like you are just lightly pushing the gas peddel, not enough rpm's to engage the clutch. How do I put it in mantenance mode anyway?

Re: low fuel pressure
the yellow knob in the middle......pull it out and turn it 180 degrees then it will only start in nueltral.....you won,t be able to drive it........when your done working on it put it back so it starts in gear....check your cable adjustments if you pressing the pedal and the carb is working right one would think its an adjustment unless that little lever on carb where cable goes to broke....i have seen them come apart right there..............................

Re: low fuel pressure
Tom... could it be the diaphragm vent?
Scott... do you, or your kids run your cart on dusty roads? |

Re: low fuel pressure
at this point running it over rpm-d and kids driving it could be anything.......but me i would at least check compression...........i,m not saying for sure theres any engine damage it could be the screen but a quick compression test would put my mind at ease...........................

Re: low fuel pressure
Make sure your carb is opening completely. On my 86 there is a spring between the accelerator cable and the carb linkage down close to the bottom of the engine. If you carb is stickling the pedal will still go to the floor because the spring will stretch. In maintenance mode start it and manually open the carb at the carb itself. Also try disconnecting the governor rod and see what happens.
