Default 2006 Precedent hesitates when starting on compression stroke

I look after a fleet of 2006 Precedents with FE350 engines. The main problem I have with them is starting on the compression stroke. It takes a few seconds for it to get going. We have 2004 Precedents with the FE290 and never have this problem. One thing I notice between the two engines is one has ACR and the other doesn't. Could that be the cause of the starter hesitating on the compression stroke. I read somewhere else that it could be brushes causing the problem. Would appreciate feed back on this. Thanks.

Only the FE350 engines are doing this ? I suppose it could be a brush issue, easy enough to pull one out and check but it seems unlikely if all your carts are the same. Is the ACR operating properly ? again, odd that the whole fleet is affected though. Try starting in reverse and see what happens then report back.
Welcome to BGW btw

Chris.

maybe something to check is your battery charge level, now my cart is a 01 ds, but have talked to cart mechanics about mine. My issue was/is the cart don't charge enough just creeping around I have to run the cart to get full proper charge and if we don't run it open and just creep around the yard it drains on the battery, and after my battery gets down to about half charge my cart starts to get a 3 to 4 second lag on starting. So now every now n then we just use a minkota trolling motor battery tester now n then to help keep an eye on it. Might be something to check

I'll agree with o_t_f!

My 07 FE350 (w/o ACR) does the same thing after it's sits for a couple of weeks,
After pumping the GO pedal, it'll start, I'll go for a good run, then it'll be fine at start up! (hot or cold)

My stock battery is getting older, and I know it's going to have to be replaced soon...

So, you might want to check the battery to make sure it has full capacity,
or, swap one with a new, fully charged battery to see if it helps your situation!

This seems to be a common problem. I have an 86 gas CC that does the same thing, even after rebuilding the starter/generator. I also have a friend with a 92 Carryall that does the same thing after replacing a bad starter/gen.
