Wrong size voltage regulator?

Thank's up front for any advise, I just ordered a new VR..the problem is it won't fit where the old one was in the black box..The old one was smaller...Should i try and get the right one or can i just lay it in there without mounting it..I hooked it up and it seems to have fixed my problem as i'm now getting 15.3 volts..Before it was 13.2...and my batt kept running down..

I would at least secure it in some way. You don't want it bouncing around in there and risk a short or electrical fire

i just put a screw through the hole in the vr and made a new one in the bottom of the black box

Ok thats what i'll do. I thought about that but wanted to ask the experts on here first,,Thank's for the advise! Always good folks on here willing to help out..

I will asume your original was square and the replacement is rectangle. Club car used both and both will fit and mount down.

if the new VR is just longer its the right one for some reason they reinvented it and made it longer and now they don,t fit right.............but it will work............................
