98 Club Car Carryall-1 Transaxle locked up
Hi
I just picked up a 98 Carryall-1 with a locked up rear end. The shift lever is stuck in neutral (cable moves freely when disconnected from shift arm). The hubs will counter rotate when the cart is lifted indicating that the diffy, axle bearings, and brakes are OK. When I try to turn the driven clutch by hand it moves a degree or two then hard stops. If you push or pull the cart the wheels skid. I also tried rocking the cart vigorously to break free but no go. Any ideas? Rebuild or new? Bigger hammer? The cart is in pretty rough shape but the motor runs good so it is going to be a value call on fixing it or not. Are the carryall units interchangable with golf car trans? It is a Kawasaki axle mod# MC008C7J0171 I saw one in the for sale forum in NJ but I'm in Michigan. BTW it has an OHV gas engine Thanks! Re: 98 Club Car Carryall-1 Transaxle locked up
boliver i was told the carry alls have a diffent axle then the ds. its wide too if i recall, mine is 51 in the rear and 48 in the front. sonds like your going to have to pull the axle and spit it to see what clip in the case took a dummp bind it up. i dont think its a clutch issue, cause you said it locks up. but hey this way you can drop in some high speed gears too!

On my carryall the snap ring on the clutch broke and the spring pushed the clutch against the transaxle and it locked up tight.

Re: 98 Club Car Carryall-1 Transaxle locked up
The above mentioned transaxle on my unit was shot. On closer examination I noticed a three inch hole in blown thru the bottom of the casting.
So I bought this one: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/golf-...transaxle.html It bolted right up and worked great. The seller was great, I'd do business with him again in a heartbeat. He even tore it down for me so we could UPS it. Thanks mjriberio! |
