Default Club Car Gas Choke

I found a Universal K&N air intake that fits club cars, HOWEVER by removing the stock air filter and box I am also removing the choke. Is there a way to add a choke valve with a push/pull cable after removing the air filter box?

I've yet to hear of anyone adding some sort of choke valve, but I bet it can be done!
Most go without a choke, one member wraps a towel around the filter if he needs a choke,
I use the K&N drop in element in my air box, It just seemed easier to me.
so, if you do find a choke valve that works, post what you did!

Keep in mind that you'll need a larger main jet for your carb to get your engine to run right!
Cart Parts Plus can set you up with that!

You could use a John Deere Gator[4x2] carb. Same carb but has the choke setup

Good suggestion tpg!

BUT... it would be MUCH cheaper for JRI to just get a drop in filter for his existing air box!

I was thinking about changing out the carb but that takes all the fun out of it. Plus its out of my budget. From what I have found out this is the best K&N for club car - http://www.cartpartsplus.com/universal-k-n-filter.html

I dont know much about the "Carb Jet" but if I add this air filter do I have to have it? I know the engine is sensitive to air flow and back pressure but I was hoping that this air filter would fit perfect.

As for the choke, I dont think there is anything on the market that fits my needs. SO Im going to try to build it or rigit lol. I have been brainstorming and going to start drawing plans, specs, and lawout when I get some time. I will try to take pictures as I go and post updates, but anyone comes acrossed something better.... Im always open to concider different ideas

Yes... if you use any K&N filter in a CC, you have to change the main jet, or your engine won't run well!
All else fails, call Tom @ CPP, and he'll set you up with the drop in filter, and larger jet for less then what your time is worth!

I did, and it was worth it!

What gain do you get with the K&N filter and jet change ? Other than the hassle of losing the choke function (which is useful in colder climates) I am at a loss to see the gains. The motor is only safe to around 4000 rpms without modification and it'll pull that and more on the standard air filter set up. What exactly does the K&N do that the standard set up doesn't ? I get more air = more fuel required but for what if you are not going crazy on the upper end of the RPM limit ?

The carb off of a Kawasaki Mule 500 will fit. It also has the choke cable set up. Not sure on the performance of the k&n, but it does sound cool.

I have the K&N 33-2022 drop in filter for my airbox, so I have my stock choke if I need it,
Granted, It doesn't give me more HP, or speed, BUT...
One advantage of having a K&N filter with a larger jet is that I go from slow to fast... quicker!

I've found that when racing a comparable cart, the stock setup will leave you "neck and neck" at the finish line,
With the K&N & jet, it will get you a cart length ahead before the other cart hits top speed!
That cart length can be quite beneficial at the finish line!

And not only that... the K&N filter has a lifetime warranty, no more replacing air filters... just wash it, oil it, and off you go!

I see. The engine must be breathing better than stock with this set up and I imagine you are seeing a slight bump in compression due to the increased fuel/air ratio. Interesting, I will have to look into ordering this kit.
Thanks for the information.
