carburetor adjustment
After servicing the engine (change oil, filter and cleaning the carburetor) the engine does not run smoothly. It's had to start and get going. I have to hold in the chock all the time to get it going just a little.
The carburetor was so dirty we had to remove it and spray cleaner into all the parts. We carefully replaced it and adjusted the set screws, but it continues to run like the fuel air mixture is not correct. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. BTW, this is a 1995 gas CC. Re: carburetor adjustment
Start with the mixture screw @1 1/2 turns out from a lightly seated position and adjust in or out in small increments. Check and double check the intake hose and air filter housing to be sure there are no air leaks. Why was the carb cleaned out in the first place ? were there issues before this ?

Re: carburetor adjustment
Thank you for the reply. Yes. The cart was running fine, but the oil needed changing badly. After changing the oil and filter the cart was very difficult to start and would only move a few feet at a time. We estimated that it was not getting fuel and cleaned the carburetor.
In fact I have already tried the adjustments as you suggested, with little success. However, I do have a question. Which of the two spring loaded screws is the mixture screw? It's been a longtime sense I've had to adjust a carb. I'll work on the adjustments again and let you know. Tks. |

Re: carburetor adjustment
No 3 is the air / fuel screw, the other (No2) is the throttle stop adjuster.

Re: carburetor adjustment
All so did you use a torch tip cleaner on all the holes
in the #6 (above diagram) jet? You can see through them but they are 1/2 plugged with varnish. |

Re: carburetor adjustment
did you touch the air filter? if it is not sealed runs like crap! same situation1 if the box is not installed correctly, runs like crap.
like doms said get you a torch tip cleaner, i like the long ones, and use them to clean out the the holes. but dont get to carrried away, these have ridges and may cause damage, or make your holes even bigger! a good clean put will go through 2 cans of carb cleaner! |

Re: carburetor adjustment
I've made some re-adjustments and it seems to be running better. I'm still not sure it's running correctly yet. Going for a test drive in a bit. Will advise. Oh, I also just replaced the fuel filter, which may have also helped.
