Default Gas ds clutch jerkiness

Are there smoother engaging clutches? Mine seems to delay engagement sometimes and jerk into gear. Or is it supposed to feel that way?
I just don't want to launch any unsuspecting children off the rear seat.

it could be the clutch is going bad or it could be just a worn belt.........try replacing the belt it may just go away and if not it may be time to rebuild clutch if its rebuildable................................

The belt appears to be new. I've seen the clutch rebuild kits as well.
Is there an upgrade for the clutch?
I've seen the add-ons that will allow the engine to idle, are those worthwhile?

Before you go down that road, are you sure that your throttle linkage is correctly set ? You wouldn't be the first CC owner to have a set up that is late in supplying voltage to the start circuit which in turn gives an open throttle condition that causes the cart to "launch" off the line like a dragster. Set your cart in maintenance mode and double check the transition of the clutches. If you see a sudden snap in the action as opposed to a smooth transition then yes, a clutch replacement or rebuild may be required but I'd be looking at the position of the throttle /micro first. If the cable is maladjusted you might be at an open wide situation before the ignition kicks in which would give the symptoms you describe.

The engine rpms do increase but no engagement. I'll check the clutch movement and verify that it's moving.
